In his op-ed published at Kompas.id on 6 February 2025, Mulya argued that the Indonesian government should support Indonesian workers who want to work or study abroad and become part of the Indonesian diaspora.

He said: "The Indonesian diaspora is relatively small. Only 3.3 percent of Indonesians live abroad. Compare that to 11 percent of Filipinos, 9 percent of Mexicans, 8 percent of British, 8 percent of Dutch, 6 percent of Malaysians, and so on."

"My argument: there should be more Indonesians living abroad, either to study or work. The call to live abroad should continue to be echoed because the Indonesian diaspora is still very small, regardless of the perception of whether Indonesia is in good or bad condition."

This post is a summary from the op-ed Pemerintah Perlu Mendukung Gerakan #KaburAjaDulu, published by kompas.id, 6 May 2025.
